Dear Mr. McLean:
Thank you for agreeing to lend your name in support of the VH1 Save The Music Foundation and its Exhibition event.
This very special event takes place on Tuesday, June 26 at the Rosalind Ballroom, located at 239 W 52nd Street, in New York at 8:00 p.m.. As a member of the Benefit Committee you are welcome to attend as our guest.
The evening will highlight the artfully reproduced rock-n-roll, fashion images of such leading photographers as Annie Leibovitz, Steven Meisel, Patrick Demarchelier, Craig McDean and Mario Sorrenti. The printing of these photographs of legendary rock, pop and fashion icons has been donated by Pascal Dangin of Box Studios, and these images will be sold in a silent auction to benefit the CH1 Save the Music Foundation. In addition to the exhibit, the evening will also include cocktails, hors doeuvres and a musical performance by an artist to be announced at a later time.
As you know, VH1, Save The Music restores public school music classes, placing instruments in the hands of children who learn and love to play them. Since the CH1 Save The Music Foundation began in 1997, the Foundation has restored the music classes of more than 500 public schools in 40 cities nationwide. Music education is a proven catalyst to academic achievement for our nations youth and the elimination of these programs is a trend we are trying to reverse. Ultimately, this is the reason why VH1 president John Sykes created the VH1 Save The Music Foundation to ensure that all children have access to a well-rounded education that includes the wonders of music.
Your support of this event means that more children will have access to a well-rounded education that includes music and all the benefits that accompany it. Scientific studies show that when children learn to play music they also score higher on standardized tests and show improved academic achievement. School musicians also exhibit all the qualities of an exemplary school citizen. Student musicians have improved attendance records, a developed sense of self-discipline and the ability to work in teams. Unfortunately, when school budgets face cutbacks, music class is often eliminated; creating a handicap for the students who could most benefit from these advantages.
From all of us here at VH1 Save The Music and the children we support, thank you for your generous support. You are touching the lives of children who will not only learn music but will also learn to be better students and thats music to everyones ears.
